English SKills Test

For corporates, schools, colleges and universities

Klik2learn can provide a multi-level, online assessment of all four language skills: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Levels are mapped to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) from A1 to C1+.

How to use it

You can use the English Skills Test as a stand-alone product for initial assessment or recruitment, or include it in the Journey 2 English package.

How to assess it

The Writing and Speaking sections can be assessed by your own tutors. Reading and Listening are auto-marked. Full marking guidance is included. Klik2learn can also offer a fully-managed service using a pool of qualified assessors.



Assessment content
  • Reading passages with multiple choice answers
  • Listening passages with a range of acceptable answers
  • Short writing exercises with prompts. The candidate’s response is captured and reviewed by qualified assessors
  • A speaking test consisting of a series of short recorded prompts/questions. Candidates' recorded answers are captured and reviewed by qualified assessors.


Technical requirements
  • The test can be accessed on internet – enabled mobile devices and laptops.
  • It is optimised for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge
  • Candidates are advised to use a headset to improve audio quality and recorded responses.



The test is designed to place candidates on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) for language skills as used by all international awarding bodies. The CEFR grades candidates at A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2.

  • C2: The capacity to deal with material which is academic or cognitively demanding, and to use language to good effect at a level of performance which may in certain respects be more advanced than that of an average native speaker.

Each candidate will receive a report detailing the level reached in all four language skills and the level attained overall.

The online assessment automatically entitles candidates to a day’s free access to Journey 2 English: over 100 hours of interactive, multimedia learning at A2/B1/B2 level.
